okay, mock me, but i'd really like to know how this effect of a 'halftone dots' go from small to large then fade out.

this link shows the exact effect i'm trying to achieve.

i have the swatch of dots, but i can't figure out how to compress them in on the left and then have them 'grow'

i should say, I AM NOT A LINDSAY LOHAN fan, just a measley ol' graphics guy.
thanks in advance!

Draw a circle, then copy and drag it to the right a ways, make it smaller;
Make a blend between the 2 circles;
Copy and drag the blend down at a 45 degree angle until the dots are interspaced just right with the original;
Select both blends, copy and move down a number of times until you have a nice bunch;
Expand the blends, then make a gradient across all of it.
