Hi,

I've noticed some filesets are half-installed on az AIX node. This is the lppchk oputout:

Code:
avalanche# lppchk -v
lppchk: The following filesets need to be installed or corrected to bring
the system to a consistent state:

bos.rte.boot 5.3.0.51 (usr: COMMITTED, root: not installed)
bos.rte.boot 5.3.0.52 (usr: not installed, root: COMMITTED)
bos.rte.control 5.3.0.51 (usr: not installed, root: COMMITTED)
bos.rte.filesystem 5.3.0.52 (usr: COMMITTED, root: not installed)
bos.rte.filesystem 5.3.0.53 (usr: not installed, root: COMMITTED)
bos.sysmgt.trace 5.3.0.51 (usr: not installed, root: COMMITTED)

There were some more filesets in similar state (one verstion ha root part committed and another version has usr part committed). Most of them were successfully eliminated using the -F option of installp - forced reinstall of theyr base level and then updated again. But there is no base level fileset on the installation media for the remaining ones. They might come from restoring the initial install image from the media. Well, what can I do now to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Had a similar problem that was due to damaged filesets from the AIX update download. If you did the update from a cd this would not apply. If you did it from a download, then try downloading just those items that are only partially installed, and install just those.

FYI, the damaged filesets were due to very large files being ftp'ed and a timeout before they finished.

Two other thoughts. Be sure that the problem is not due to missing prerequisites. Check the smit install log file. Have had that problem as well.

Finally, if you do need base filesets, and you have software maintenance, call for support. Explain the problem, and they will give you a special download to get them.
