My computer half-freezes after every 10 minutes of use. What I mean by "half-freeze" is, only the bottom part of the screen freezes. I can close the browser from the X on top but I cannot navigate through the apps using the Taskbar or Quick Launch.

The only thing that seems to help is when I Ctrl_Alt_Del, the freeze melts. =)

I built my computer and it has P-3 500 mhz with 384 Ram(256 + 128). I'm running W2K. I haven't had any of these problems but I guess it started around the time I installed Apache, PHP and mySQL about two months ago. But would it still have these problems even when I'm only running IE?

If any of the downloaded programs was causing the problem, yes, they would still cause the problem when using IE.

Make sure your anti virus program is up to date and run a full virus scan. Then to , download and run the free Ad Aware program to remove any trojans or spyware.

Be sure and run the Disk Cleanup, and Disk Defragmenter utilities. Take a look at the icons in your system tray. Alot of them? These programs are the ones running continiously on your comptr. Go the the options or tools in each of these programs and stop them from "Starting With Windows" or " Starting at Startup".

If the problem persists, uninstall those three programs and see if the problem disappears. If so, then reinstall them one at a time, checking after each install to be sure it was not that program causing the problem.
