hai every body
iam a kind whos just new to this forum and cert field as well. looking forw for ccna cert. can any one pls rep whether its mandatory need to pass ccna to get to ccnp or just an obligation hope u all understand. it s going to be costly affair wwriting ccna then going for ccnp.

CCNA is required to attain the CCNP Cert. CCNA used to be a separate cert from the CCNP, now Cisco changed the requirement. You have to be a CCNA to complete the CCNP certification.
 
Actually, you have to be a current CCNA by the time you pass your last exam to earn your CCNP. Example, you pass
three exams, your CCNA expires, you pass final exam, you aren't a CCNP until you have passed the CCNA re-cert again
(this policy is currently being looked at by cisco, as they have stated that passing any professional level cert will renew your CCNA, but this assumes it's not expired).
