Hi all,

My limited understanding is that HACMP requires rsh in some way.
Does HACMP require both the login and shell services?
login 513/tcp
shell 514/tcp

Or does it only require the "shell" service to allow commands such as "rsh hostname cmd"?

Also is it safe to disable remote root login ie., rlogin=false for root in /etc/security/user if HACMP is being used?
My understanding is that disabling remote root should hv no effect on "rsh hostname cmd", but it will not allow "rsh hostname" if you are root. I'm not sure if this would impact HACMP.

Thanks in advance, :)

You do not need to have the .rhosts file for running of hacmp, but it is needed though when you are performing any cluster changes and synchronizing the cluster nodes. You can disable rlogin=true for root, but you will need to turn it on when you are performing cluster sanity checks or using cspoc for LV's, File systems, or even sync'ing.
