I would like to install 2 x P650 Servers with 2 x FastT 900,s with Flash Copy running AIX 5.2 and HACMP 5.1 in two building,s 10 Miles apart using 2 G/B Fibre through a SAN. Does anybody know if this is a Valid Config, Do i need HACMP/XD, I can only seem to find that this is supported under 2105/ESS and not FastT with Flash Copy. Thanking you for any correspondance on this matter.

Hi siash.

We have a nearly identical configuration:

2x650
1x Fastt700
1x Fastt900

Running Oracle RAC 9 and HACMP 5.1.

But our machines reside within one building. How will you connect the 10 miles SAN? Is it possible to build a 10 miles Fibre-configuration? How will you realise the heartbeat?

I think that this is possible using HACMP/XD, Which will give you the options to choose two different sites, The problem i have is that i can,t find any documentation which supports Fast T 900 using Flash Copy, I can only find info on 2105/ESS using PPRC and the SDD device driver.

hi ,
In FAST you have remote volume copy option instead of flash copy.
remote volume copy will do the remote locations replication...however i wonder how Rudivvc is running Oracle RAC with two nodes on FAST...Probably he is using raw lv for this purpose instead of GPFS...
i will not recommend you to use raw lvs for Oracle RAC as there are lot of administration issues in that case.
