Hi,

I have 2 questions.

I have taken over a cluster that is soon to go into production and i have started some testing. i have 1 IP and 1 non-IP network. The IP network is an etherchannel, i ifconfig enX down and the cluster detects the network down, but without any manual intervention after about 90 seconds, the enX comes up and hacmp again detects this.

secondly, we are using ipat via ip alias and also hb over ip aliasing. the boot and service address are on the same network but the ip address offset is on a different subnet. i thought boot and service had to be on different subnets ? is this the case even when you have hb over ip aliasing configured ?

Thanks in advance !!

I have re-read the manual and - secondly, we are using ipat via ip alias and also hb over ip aliasing. the boot and service address are on the same network but the ip address offset is on a different subnet. i thought boot and service had to be on different subnets ? is this the case even when you have hb over ip aliasing configured ?
- is a valid config.

i still have the question regarding the etherchannel if anyone has any ideas !

When using ip address via aliasing the service and both boot addresses have to be on different subnets!

Since heartbeaing is done over the boot addresses so yes they have to be on different subnets

Regards,
Khalid
