Dears.
I have some very important questions to ask as i have expereince of previous versions of HACMP but this 5.1 version is totaly different.
I have to implement Oracle RAC on HACMP 5.1 and GPFS.

Scenerio:
when the cluster definition is entered with nodes names ( all AIX tcpip
configuration on both machines were already done), the automatic dicovery is
started and all networks and adapters were automatically discovered.

This discovery was allright but there are two questions:

1. There are no such menus for defining network attributes ( like public ,
private or serial). This was important for us as we have to define two
private networks for Oracle RAC. How can we define the public/private
network attribute in HA 5.1

2. We are not finding any menu to indicate network interface function i.e.
sby or boot adapters. How can we define the boot/sby function in HA 5.1

3. As there is no IPAT required in RAC , another question is that whether the adapters per each node is required to be service function or not.

Hi ,

Take a look at this may or may not help you but here goes anyway:-

question 1 .

When you define your network i.e. ether, serial etcc.
to set whether this is public or private go into
configure HACMP networks , change network.

question 2 .

standby only used in a variant of IPAT caled IPAT via ip replacement i.e. network cards not used for service addresses will be used as standby , from what i understand of this is , you may have several service addresses
but as long as you have a boot IP in your network , that will be used as a standby interface

gotta go , willpost a bit more later

hope this helps a bit

Dear,
very much thanks for ur help!
What i understand from ur answers is as follows.
Please correct me if i am wrong as otherwise i will go for continuation in configuring HACMP in same way.
1. first, as no IPAT being used , the network interfaces will not be defined as service.
2. However, for GPFS n/w one service ip label will be defined per each node.
3. i am still not be able to get network attribute field ( public etc) so i will let it to be on RAC part.

Regards
Polani
