Hi All,
regarding backup on h4kv5, i only know how to backup is using regen and copy from HD to MO disk COPY-DDRSM:A1,1,E,6,E,;is is it possible to backup the other other partition of HDD and the unixware? last time we encounter the problem on system unixware is corrupt and other partition is defect. thank you.

For a V5 system the area E (PDS) backup you have is the best one, because it will boot the system.

It's not possible to backup the other partitions of a running system as a straight image copy.

You should copy the SCR area (the files) from the HD so that you have the unix install files. You can drag those to your laptop with Comwin-FT. Then if you need to reinstall the Unixware, that's all you need to put the OS back.

You should make an export from HBR of the Assistant data, if you really need it. If you just have IP, netmask, gateway, it's no big deal. But maybe you have entered lots of user data, personal data, stuff like that. If so, then you should make an HBR backup.

If you have put an Assistant patch on, it will be lost if you reinstall the OS. You can SFTP it off the Assistant from /var/hf in case you need it again, you are looking for an ADP*.tar file.

i have another question. we encounter a problem using replace HDD on the IPDA.

scenario: connected to IPDA
Force the IPDA into APE emergency mode
1.main system, replace new HDD with new version of rmx and unix.
unplug all network connection form main system
then deactivate old HDD and replace new one.
2.automatic reboot system
3.check the configuration same as the old HDD RMX and unix has a new version

For IPDA(HDD have UNIX only config only)
same unplug all lAn calbe connected to network
deactivate existing HDD of IPDA and replace new one
do the procedure how to make and APE system base on the mannual.
the processor is stop on the logo Y.
when we try to connect all cable IPDA is reboot and link to the main system.IPDa and main system call internal.
unfortunately there is a issue on the IPDA system when we try to dial out there is a garbled sound what is the cause ?
btw this connection have a diff. unix version for example main is r7 ipda is r1 .

thanks we need to verify what is the cause of garbled sound and solved it.
