h323 remote phone

thanks an advance, i have seen other forums and no luck. following knowledge base guide
SonicWall/firewall

example.
IPOv2 r8.(44) 192.168.42.1
public gateway 192.168.42.3 forward ports udp and rtp, rtcp ports to IPO
udp 1719, tcp 1720, udp 5005, tcp/udp 49152-53246
enable remote phone on voip tab, extn tab, user tab,
ip route 0.0.0.0 .0.0.0.0 gateway 192.168.42.4 lan 1
eable stun server 132.177.123.73 ( actual stun server)
phone connects login. but no voice.
can anyone give me directions.
i must be missing something or configured incorrect.

is the phone statically assigned its IP address?

Check your phone's gateway.

you may use your Sonicwall's IP as your phone's gateway.

H.323 does not use STUN, that is SIP only.

If you can connect but no speech then the UDP RTP packets are blocked or send to the wrong IP address.
To check whether the UDP packets are blocked ( IP Port range 49152-53246 ) then set up a telnet listener on port 49152 at one location and try to connect on that port from the remote location and vice versa ( not as simple as said ).
To check if the packets are send to the right IP Addess you need a packet sniffer at both locations.
Often one of the inbetween routers have some kind of "SIP optimalisation" routine enabled which screws up H.323 connections.

Intrigrant, the stun option is needed when there is a firewall in between.
Bt it only uses it to set the firewall settings in the IPO.grI
