H249 on IP Office 1

I need to configure a large number of H249 phones with IP Office. At the moment, I can't figure out a way to do automatic configuration with button programming or any other features through the IP Office and the H249 phones, I can only find a way to configure the phones via their Web UI.

I am to the point that I am going to use a provisioning service built into a completely different product to load up the MAC addresses and serve a config file template with the usernames and passwords plugged in. Does anyone have any experience with this?

The one thing I can say with absolute certainty is that no-one from Avaya has sat down with their own "Installing and Administering the Avaya H239 and H249 Phones" manual and got one installed.

They do tell you how to configure things so that the phones will ask for the configuration file - but absolutely fail to tell you what to put in the file in order to program up the custom buttons on the phone.

They are actually phones from a company called Fanvil, just with an Avaya badge, so search on Fanvil's own documentation if they have any might help.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Did you have any luck getting all your H249 phones installed?

I have not delved into it yet, but the fact that they are Fanvil phones has me fairly confident I can because on configuration examples I have found. I am getting ready to build a template for these phones and then import the MAC addresses of 400 phones into our hosted phone provisioning server and just use it to deploy the customized configurations to all of the phones.
