I have a maxtor 4k080h4 drive that when it was in my computer worked fine. I want to put in my satellite dvr. After starting this process I noticed that my hd will not detect when isolated on the ide cable by itself. If I have it on IDE 1 with no other drives it hangs on bootup at the detecting drives. It will finally say the drive name but when I go into powermax utility it say no drive. If I hook a slave up on the same cable like it was it picks it up no problem. Just no when its on the cable by itself. Problem is that the dvr(digital video recorder) only has one hook up for hd. So when I put it in there it doesn't detect it also. I have tried diff. cables and all the jumper settings. Any ideas.
