Hi List,

I need to plot from several NT clients to several HP 750 & 755 Designjet plotters.
I installed on an ultra 10 jetdirect and set up a queu and everything, using HP/GL2, this works OK.
For testing I installed a HP 750c printer driver on an NT box but made it print to file.
When I fire off that file to the plotter from the ultra 10 (lp -d aplot4_1 filename) it works perfect, except the plotter start complaining about it's memory being full although it still plots, at a slow speed, almost like line per line..
I need to set it to use the computer mem instead of the plotter...but where.

Also, when printing out plots with transparent layers it just discards the transparent layers, again, this seems to be related to this problem where the plotter's memory runs full.

In NT you can set an option to either use the plotter memory or the computer memory.
Can this be set somewhere in solaris or do I have to change it somewhere in the scripts that come with jetdirect ?

Aside from that, does anyone have any experience with Samba & printer sharing.
Does this work fairly easy or are there again numerous pitholes before it all works?

Thanks.

Hi all,

Solved.
Running perfect, just shared the printer via samba, installed it with local drivers on NT client and everything works as it should.
huge 200Mb plots are plotted almost instantly, only bottleneck being the network throughput.

Cool.
