Hi,
I need to compress files on a HP-UX 11 server. The files are then e-mailed from the unix server using mailx to a MS Exchange server. At the other end I have tried using Winzip, winace and winimp to uncompress and all three report that the file is corrupt. Am I missing something or doing something wrong. Any suggestions would be welcome. SOL
I'm only guessing but my guess work generally works for me.

I have no problem using gzip with winzip if I ftp the files in binary mode to/from the Windows box. My guess is that the mail program or probably Exchange is sticking unwanted characters in the file.
Are you sending as an attachment or the body of the message?
I did not see how to include a file as an attachement in the man page of mailx.
Try e-mailing the file to another user or yourself on the UNIX box and see if gzip has problems with the file there.
