I know I have fixed this same problem before but I am stuck. I am running gw5.5e (fully packed). We moved the Mail server to a new subnet and I made what I thought were all the necessary changes. Long story short, Inbound okay Outbound shows as pending. Thanks for any help. Breeze

Could be DNS resolution, routing, or firewall blocking port 25.

On the mail server you need to do a couple of checks:
1. ping the DNS server
2. ping the firewall
3. ping an address outside the firewall
4. ping by name a mail server outside the company. Doesn't matter if you get a response on this one, just see if the name gets resolved to a number.
This will test the first two possibles. To test the 3rd, you need to put a computer on the subnet that you can telnet to port 25 on.

You could also run TEL.NLM on your server and see if you can make a connection to peeps outside your network. I think it's important that you telnet to a host outside of your network, not just on your subnet.

If that fails you can assume network config problems. If it works, then you may just be having problems resolving hostnames from your GW server.

Did all the hostnames and ran ping til my fingers bleed. DOH! even though I had changed the routing on the MTA I had'nt rebooted the POA's and the route never changed. Force feed the new IP to the MTA and rebooted everything and all is well.
