We just completed an upgrade from Groupwise 5.5 to 6 and everything seems to be working EXCEPT no incoming internet email. Mail can go out and find its destination. However, nothing coming in. I've looked at the settings and they seem to be same as before.

Any help on what / where to look would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

jgiles

You question is kinda general... could you elaborate a bit further?

For instance, what does your link configuration look like? How about your Internet Addressing and any Addressing Rules that you may have implemented?

Please advise.

Thanks for your response - you're right, I didn't give you much; mainly because I wasn't sure what inform. might be relevant. Someone else performed the upgrade so I'm just now getting familiar with it.

Your question led me to the following that I don't understand and wonder if it could be related:

Under Link Config. Tool, the PO link is \\server\sys\grpwise\poffice

However, the volume containing GWise on that server is Data and the Domain properties shows UNC path as \\server\Data\grpwise\domain

Record inform. for GWIA shows UNC path as \\server\sys\grpwise\domain\WPGATE\GWIA

What factors determine where outside (internet) email is routed to?

Thanks again for your help, Jerry

In GroupWise View within NWADMIN32, highlight the very top of the GroupWise Tree, right-click and select SYSTEM OPERATIONS. Next Select the INTERNET ADDRESSING icon. At the bottom of this Dialogue box, you will see an heading for "Internet Agent for Outbound SMTP/MIME Messages". This is where you determine what direction Outbound Internet-related messaged travel.

Hope this helps!

Good Luck!

Thanks; however, outbound works fine - it's the incoming messages that aren't getting through.

DOH!!!! My bad.

The GWIA should be part of the Primary GroupWise Domain, so when the GWIA accepts a message, it should go immediately to the Primary MTA, which the should relay it to wherever it needs to go.

Do you have the GWIA setup in the same Domain as the Primary MTA? Or are they in different Domains?

Good Luck!

Was this an upgrade or is this a new box?

If it is a new server is your MX record setup correctly with your ISP?

Do you have internet addressing turned on?

Yes, MTA and GWIA are both in same domain. jg

To ductape - sorry, I meant to add, this was an upgrade from 5.5 to 6 and the GWIA was all working before. However, when 6 was installed it was also MOVED from the SYS volume to a newly created volume.
