Didn't SP3 just recently come out, and now SP4 is out. I have barely had a chance to try SP3. Does anybody know what the deal is? It seems like SP4 came out way too soon.

I know what you mean. I usually wait a few months after a service pack comes out before I install it. I installed SP3, and a couple weeks later, SP4 was out. Not sure what the deal is.

SP4 is still a bit on the new side. It was rushed to get the RIM integration happening (SP4 client is required on BES server). Marketing is often (always?) in charge of what features make it in etc and the RIM thing was very high priority for the GW group. I just put our BES in on Tuesday and it really works well btw.
I know of at least one bug in SP4: if you run cluster in protected memory your PO will go 'deaf'.. I'd stick with SP3 for now until the community has had more time to shake it down.

I just spoke with a tech today. SP5 is already in beta.

BTW, what is RIM and BES?

Ron - The two acronyms stand for Research In Motion and Blackberry Enterprise Server. We also are going the Blackberry way here very shortly. It should be an interesting project.

SP3 has been awful for our network. That SP has some major bugs in the core code for the mail system. We get an abend once a month and all the Novell tech's tell us that the code was really bad on the SP. This is the reason for the quick patches.

Also, like what was said earlier in this thread... GW does not support the most recent technologies. Like TREO600 and TREO 650's with palm OS. What I mean by that is... these phones use certain IMAP commands that GW can't handle yet. We have a bunch of these phones in our office and have tried a bunch of different IMAP clients on the phones and none of them work. We think SP5 will have the fixes for these problems.

But it may be to late for that anyway because Omni-Mobile will be out pretty soon and does not rely on IMAP interfacing with GW.
