It might be a MAC issue, but currently, it only seems to happen with GW. It freezes my entire MAC on an 'Empty Trash' command or when a message is opened. It is a PowerMAC 5200.

I also have a problem with GW corrupting the GroupWise pref file on another 5200. The pref file has to be thrown away everytime I want to open GW.

Thanks.

Have you tried removing Groupwise completely and reinstalling?

Which version of Groupwise are you using. We use 5.2.8 on our Macs which is relatively stable.

John

We are using 5.2. I have dumped the Novel GroupWise folder and the Groupwise pref folder within the Novel folder in the prefs folder in the system folder (whew). Other than that, I have removed nothing else. After a reinstall, it continued to do the same thing.

After running a database repair, it keeps sending back an uncorrectable error code 25.

Groupwise also installs stuff in the extensions folder, and a control panel if Notify is installed. Try removing these as well before a reinstall. Yes, it's a pain but it's worth a go.

Does your email account work on other machines? This will tell you whether it's a client or server issue.

Does your email account have a password? If post office security is set to high then a password is required before you can empty the trash.

Good luck
John

It didn't work on another machine of similar make, so its something with the mailbox. Thanks. I'll post a solution when we find one.

here was the problem and a solution. There were some messages that had been deleted but were still hanging on the server, unseen. We expired all messages and it cleared them out and fixed both problems. Thanks.
