Our Groupwise 5.5 system seems store '.bad' messages and does not send a reply or bounce the message back to the sender. This results in messages, going in and out, whose addresses are mistyped to seem as though they went through normally. Occasionally a user comes up to me asking why the other person didn't receive the message.

These messages are stored within the mail\domain\.... folder with a .bad extension.

Our consultants tell us that Groupwise cannot be configured to bounce improperly addressed emails back to the point of origin or sender.

Our second problem is that occasionally a properly adressed email seems to be caught up & doesn't go through.

1) Can GroupWise 5.5 be configured too bounce messages back to the point of origin?

2) Is GroupWise an unstable email platform - never mind its other functions.

Thanks in advance

Your consultant doesn't seem to know Groupwise.

Groupwise is a stable email system. As with any software having a contact who knows the software is the best start. Fortunately tek-tips exists so you don't always have to relay on what the supposed "consultant" has to say. Lee Smith
