Guidelines in preview 1

I feel like I'm missing some nuance/feature of the program here... I'm using CR XI. I have the option selected to show guidelines in design view and in preview. I can set, view, and manipulate these guidelines fine in design view, but I can't see them in preview. I do have the option selected (File>options>Layout>preview>guidelines), but nothing shows up. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks,

Did you click on an object in preview to make the guidelines show up? Try that.
