guided path creating ?

I am creating a simple flash movie where a symbol follows a simple path. I have created the path using the pen tool but have found that the path is not as 'smooth' as I like. can anyone explain in how I could create a smooth path in flash that would resemble a figure eight.

type an 8 (need a skinny font) - break it apart - and wala - there is your guide - or you could make an empty stroked circle and put one on another like a snow man and guide that... or use the smooth option on the pencil tool and draw one yourself... so many options...
