I have built a guest mailbox on a 3.0 NAM and initialized the mailbox for my remote user. We can access this mailbox internally but when we try to access it remotely we get a message stating, “ the mailbox password combination you have entered is not registered please try again”. I’ve never heard that message before and I can’t find anything wrong with the mailbox. Anybody know what that means?

If you are trying to retrieve messages from off site, you need to:
Press**2211234# (in this example 221 is the extension,1234 is the password.)when your voicemail answers.
At this point the voicemail will tell you how many new messages and how many saved messages you have. Press 2 to listen to your new messages.
If you are trying to transfer calls to this mailbox you need to:
press Feature 986, then enter mailbox number.

It is after we enter **the mailbox and password that we get that message. We have reset the password several times. We can get past that point.
 
Uhmmmm, just for grins and giggles check this:

Feature 983, log in as usual.

MBOX AA Othr

Dial 77
External init: N. Press change and make this Y(es)then press OK.

Try calling in remotely again..........

Why wouldn't the system start to print reports as soon as it gets one 7?

It has a little period of time that it waits to see if you're going to type in something else. So you dial 7 for reports it waits just a sec to see if you wanted to dial 77.

Thanks for your help. We were able to set external init with your procedure to yes but we are still having problems with the same mailbox. Its very strange. Time to send the vendor out.
 
Just one last thing. Delete the mailbox and recreate it. That's the last thing I can think of. MRoberts

when you get that message the system should ask you again to enter mailbox # and password, is it not working the 2nd time either? I'd try deleting the mailbox and rebulding it.
