Hi all,

I have a remote access problem with regard to GSP.

Local console access is possible, but modem dial-up is failing. Local access to GSP is also failing.

Usual access steps are to go through modem access to the GSP and and use GSP to bump any user off the console to take it over.

I can connect to the modem but am not getting a response from GSP. Local staff cannot use CTRL-b to access the interactive GSP session, so effectively we are cannot remotely access the box.

We have tried; killing all (2) console sessions on the box, power cycling the actual terminal, removing getty processess, but no luck.

Anyone seen anything similar, we're in a bit of a pickle ?

Cheers Ian

Hi Ian,

I could be wrong, but I had a call whereby the user had gone into GSP on the console, but had not isssued a co, to return to console and then rebooted remotely.

This had similar effects to yours, and the only fix was a GSP reset. There is a GSP button on the core I/O on the server.

Can't remember if this was done when machine was down, I think not, but it's worth looking into.

Best of luck

Hi Queenie,

searched on GSP reset found an arcane doc buried deep in hp with the following commands

on console
look to see if GSP is still working
# stty +queryGSP < /dev/GSPdiag1
GSP is functional

reset GSP
# stty +resetGSP < /dev/GSPdiag1

then some password reset dialogue

It did the trick ! Thanks for the hint Ian
