gtk ( post #1)

while tring to install gtk+ i get the error :

checking for freetype-config... /usr/bin/freetype-config
checking For sufficiently new FreeType (at least 2.0.1)... no
configure: error: pangoxft Pango backend found but did not find freetype libraries

i have the following packages installed

freetype-2.1.7-3.99_1.rh9.at
freetype-devel-2.1.7-3.99_1.rh9.at
freetype-debuginfo-2.1.7-3.99_1.rh9.at
freetype-utils-2.1.7-3.99_1.rh9.at

what's going on here?

I remember similiar errors with pango/ gtk/ libfreetype/ some more.

Sometimes it was due to missing links, i.e.:

found:
libXY.so.4.3.17 -> libXY.so.4.3
libXY.so.4.3 -> libXY.so.4
but missing
libXY.so.4 -> libXY.so

If you find this to be true in your case, create the links by hand.

btw.: I have libfreetype.so.6.3.5
