hi. this is my first time going to take the cisco exam.
icnd1- 640-822
i decide to take them separately because too much information and hands-on skills.

i got a question about icnd1. they have SDM to configure the router.
are they going to give SDM simulation in the exam??

i have 2 2514 routers at home. do these routers able to install SDM???

do you have any suggestion or reminds for me? thank you.

I have NEVER seen anything but CLI on a Cisco exam!

ALL sims have always been command line interface (CLI) I would be very surprized if they were testing much on a GUI.

As far as your 2514s - I do not think they will do SDM, I would keep practicing the CLI and know it like the back of your hand.

From the Exam objectives -

Configure, verify, and troubleshoot RIPv2
Access and utilize the router CLI to set basic parameters
Connect, configure, and verify operation status of a device interface
Verify device configuration and network connectivity using ping, traceroute, telnet, SSH or other utilities
Perform and verify routing configuration tasks for a static or default route given specific routing requirements
Manage IOS configuration files (including: save, edit, upgrade, restore)


It does list SDM here -

Enable NAT for a small network with a single ISP and connection using SDM and verify operation using CLI and ping
Configure, verify and troubleshoot DHCP and DNS operation on a router.(including: CLI/SDM)

I am sure some who have just taken the exam will post some thoughts!

The new curriculum includes configuration with SDM and it is something you will need to be able to do on the CCENT. I would know how to configure DHCP and NAT using SDM and be prepared for a sim using SDM if I were prepping for the exam. "Nuff said."

2500s do not support SDM. The "oldest" routers that support SDM are 2600XM NOT 2600. You can download SDM for free if it is not pre-installed on the newer platforms (1841/2811). It will not work with the older platforms.

i reschaduled the ccent exam on friday and passed it with 880 something.


The ??????exam doesn't have SDM simulation.

the ccent exam mainly focus on data commmunication (OSI layers), layer 2 switch/bridge and layer 1, and some basic configuration of switching and router and some troubleshooting. there are few(about 3) wireless questions

i believe they are going to give SDM simulation in the future exam because they don't have SDM simulator.
