Dear All,

I am trying to restore a backup from tape and the TERM type is set to vt100. This needs to be changed to hp.

I know I have to us GSP but what command in GSP do I need to use to change the TERM from vt100 to hp?

Many thanks in advance

MMMM, not sure if you are looking at the right thing here. The GSP is a CPU board that sits inside most of the new HP's and it monitors the Hardware from the inside.

It has a separate access point through the console by using the Ctrl + B key strokes, to get out of it type CO and enter.

BUT, this is not the correct place to change the Terminal Emulation of your screen. If you are accessing the machine through the console then you need to used the config settings on that.

If you are using a web console then you can change the settings within the web page. But I have never found this necessary.

I don't think you are looking in the right place.

Best regards

hi,

its probably related to the user/root profile.

what term window are you using to connect?. Is it standard windows telnet or hpterm or dtterm?.

If I were you I would login to the system as root....via telnet or web console or lan console, then set the TERM variable appropriately. "export TERM=hp".

GSP relate to system hardware, not term settings.

Regards,
Mike

I was using a console hp terminal.

The way a resolved this was by going into GSP using ctrl^b

ans using "CA".

One of the configuration parameters is console type.
This was set to vt100, so I change it to hp.

After this I booted of the recovery_tape and could see the unix install window, correctly.

Hope this helps someone else

Paul

Yes, the GSP is what the console talks to. As you correctly figured out, you must change the console type in the GSP to "hp" if you want to use an HP terminal as the console.
