I am investigating using RAD IP Mux's in a 36 LIM system, BC13 Sp3. All of our remote Lim's have 2 or more GS links I know there were previousley problems relating to GS slips due to issues with the packetization of the sync clock, the RAD supplier in our region is saying they have resloved the issue yet I am sceptical, does anyone use this type of configuration any information would be appreciated. It is not feasible for use to provide an ISDN link to each of the remote Lims so we can use the FELL parameter to avoid sync clock issues.

If you have your QoS and traffic prioritization set up correctly on the routers at each end, the RAD units work pretty well. The RAD traffic has to have the highest priority vs everything else on that path.

You also have to tune the circuit a little with respect to the jitter buffer and TDM bytes per frame.

Try to keep the jiiter buffer between 300 and 600 and TDM bytes per frame betwen 4 and 7.

You can use a higher value for TDM bytes if your IP pipe is big enough.

The worst problem relating to QoS is disruption of the signalling channel - the LIM will go thru de-isolation routine and drop all calls. You'll know when that occurs because you see an error code 34 with the "TIME" and "RTIME" being the same and you'll see a restart request on your terminal screen.

Make sure you have the latest firmware release when you get the boxes.

Good luck,
