Hi there,

We are currently planning for a migration to Microsoft and MSX2003. While we perform this phased migration we intend to keep users running novell and Groupwise enabled for email thru the existing email solution with Groupwise 5.5.

At the same time we will in a phased project move users over to AD and MSX2003.

Problem: How can we still point all incoming email to the companys abcd.com email domain, which points to the Groupwise server, but make it forward emails to users in the Exchange server as they have been moved?
Can the Groupwise server act as main mailserver for this domain, and forward emails of users that have been migrated?

And how do we integrate the Exchange users during the migration phase with the adress book in Groupwise and vice versa?
Is there a connector that we can use?

Appreciate your help!
Joe

I am going through this torture now, about 30% migrated.

What you describe is what you want to do. You will use the microsoft tool called 'groupwise connector' and the novell app called 'groupwise api' to connect the 2 systems together. You will receive emails on the gw system, which will forward to the exch system.

The actual migration of accounts is tricky. MS has a tool included called mailmig.exe to copy the accounts. It works fairly good but...

If you want to get users archives, calendar, and novell address book, you will want a third party tool.

We are using wingra. It's worth the money so make sure you budget for it. Cost is $10 per mailbox with a 100 mailbox minimum order.

Also, microsofts website has a good guide for this. Look for document with a make-believe company called fabrikam. The whole process is outlined from a to z.
