I have a Netware 5.1 servr running Groupwise 6.5.

When attempting to modify one particular user in ConsoleOne, the following error is returned:

Groupwise Administrator:
Pending Move.
This record cannot be modified at this time.

No other user has this problem.

I have rebooted the server, and run maintenance routines, but this problem still exists.

Help!

You might want to check to see how many pending operations there are in your system, and then if so, troubleshoot to see why they aren't processing.

Console One, Tools, Groupwise System Operations, Pending operations.

Hi marvhuffaker

I have checked the pending move operations, and there are no pending moves. The error returned when attempting to access this user's properties still concerns a pending move (?)

I cannot adjust settings for this user and I need to do so fairly urgently - any further help is much appreciated.

My apologies, I had checked 'pending operations' but not the 'user move status'.

There is one entry and it is for this particular user.

The status message reads "Destination Post Office Updated". No errors are reported. I assume however that there is an error with this operation, but I don't even know why this operation exists as I only have 1 post office and 1 domain.

About a month ago, we did create a secondary domain, convert it to a primary, move all the users, and then delete the old primary, but this particular user did not exist at that point.

We do have 3 internet addressing domains in use, and I have noticed that the users' default internet domain name is set to one of our domian names which is not the default domain. Could this be the source of our problem? I have tried removing the domain from the internet addressing domians list, and then accessing the users' properties, but with no luck.

What else can I do to clear this error?

Hi marvhuffaker

I was able to make these changes in nwdamn32 but still cannot amend the same object on Console One.

Wierd.

john141076, DO NOT use nwadminxx to administer your GW 6.x system. Doing so could result in corrupted databases. You should only use ConsoleOne for GW 6.x systems. Make sure you have all the required GW snap-ins for ConsoleOne.

Whoa. Hold on.

Like FarOut said, don't even try to change stuff with NWADMIN. Take the GW snapins out of your NWADMIn directory so you're not tempted. If you have been using NWADMIn to make changes, I suspect that this may have led to some of your problems.

Probably have corrupted things and may need to go rebuild everything or call Novell to fix stuff if it's really bad.

Hi

The pending move error existed prior to using nwadmn32.exe

I used this program as a last resort out of frustration with Console One.

Thanks for letting me know about this, I will not use nwadmn32 any more.

I'll run a dsrepair, I was planning on rebuilding the Post Office anyway.

John, DSREPAIR is for the NDS database, which is entirely different than the Groupwise database. Dsrepair will generally not fix your groupwise problems.

Go to this link and spend a couple days. There is a lot of material but it should give you a better understanding of how GroupWise works and the tools available.

Sorry marv, I should have qualified that I was to run dsrepair in relation to problems I'm experiencing with licensing, the PO repair relates to Groupwise.

Thanks for the link, I will take a good long look.
