Novell recommends running this partner patch to help fix ORBD.ORG's problem about open relay. The readme on the patch does not recommend installing it on production servers. Anyone know anything about this? And what are some of the gotya's in SP4 for groupwise 5.5?

I've installed it on a number of "production servers" and it seems to be the only thing that will allow them to pass the ORDB test.

So far, after about three weeks, I haven't experienced any problems on my Groupwise servers. They are all running GW 5.5 with SP4.

Same here. We had to install it and SP4 2x's in order to get it to work. But once installed it seems to work ok.

I installed the patch on my server in December and it is running like a champ...Our company has past open relay tests for the first time since I have been there, we are flying high....I think its a god-send

Hey Graver,
Did you also install sp4 like Domenick did? Or did yours work with just the patch?

Cheers,
Mark ;-)

I recently took over "administering" a Novell 5.1 server with Groupwise 5.5.3
We have also been blacklisted by ORBD for relaying.
Having never patched novell before, could I be in for any nasty surprises by applying SP4 for Netware, SP5 for Groupswise and the fgwia55f patch?

If you are attempting to install NW51SP4, you may run into some issues. Novell still hasn't worked out all of the bugs. You might be better off applying NW51SP3.

I haven't used the GW55SP5 as of yet because 5.5.4 has been so completely stable.

FGWIA55F is a definite!

Good Luck.

for once novell did something right with this patch it installed like a dream

We had a couple of issues, but they were fairly easy to resolve.

Would like to echo caution in applying 5.1 SP4 Have heard of numerous problems including ones relating to Arcserve backup. No problems on my end with GroupWise SP4 and the other patch you mentioned. I just noticed last week that GW SP5 is now available. Don't know if I would install it just yet though. Here is your link on Novell:
I'm on GW6 now and many things are better (client/adminstration/infinite loops fixed). Hope you get to upgrade as well so you'll get the benefits. Upgrade was a piece of cake as well!!!! No pain, significant gain.

We are planning to move to GW6. You say your upgrade went well. Can you give some details on the migration?

Responding to Domenick directly. I have a great PDF for GroupWise 5.5 to 6.0 upgrade in case anyone else wants it. You need a password which I will send to you with the PDF if you e-mail me and request it. This guide made my upgrade idiot-proof!!!!!
