We are using SBS5.1 and Groupwise 5.5 on our server with about 25 users. It was originally setup with 1 domain name (ex. abc.com) and everything works fine. We have since spun-off a subsidary and about 5 users need to have their outgoing email address userid@subsidary.com instead of userid@abc.com. I tried changing this in the user properties details (userid@domainname) but it still sends out userid@abc.com. Also added the new domain in "foreign ID" field in GWIA but it did not work either. Any hints???

Check into the functionality of "aliases". I'm no expert but I believe this is what you're looking for.

If you are only dealing with 5 people you could just use the Nickname/Alias option to 'Dummy up' the incomming/outgoing email addresses but in the long run you might want to just add the Domain Name at the GW System Level and set up an MX record at your DNS host for the new Domain. The Forign ID at the GWIA won't work without the MX record anyway. This will leave you with the ability to Override anyone on the system to be a part of the new domain even if that is only a temporary move.
First start Consoleone or NWAdmin and go to the Tools Menu, click GroupWise System Operations/Internet Addressing and Create the new domain name there. Click OK.
Add the Domain to the GWIA Forign ID (as you have already done) and get your ISP to add the MX pointer for the new domain to the GWIA server just like the old Domain MX record. Then you need to go to the User Properties GroupWise/Internet Addressing tab and select tne new Domain from the dropdown box and check off Overide. Don't check off the box below that and the user can receive messages at both Domains but only send from the Overide Domain.

Good Luck

Well, thanks. I got it setup and running by adding an alias to the new domain and taking your suggestion above. These users can now send out email using the new domain and receive email from both domains.
