This is very complicated. Two business locations one in WI, and the other in IN. They are on the same domain. They have different GW post offices. One is WIPO and the other is INPO.
Here is the deal.
Jeff worked at the Seymour facility in 1997 when there was still B-Mail. He moved to the Mequon facility in 1999. His emails were converted to Groupwise when the transition took place prior to that. Therefore, he was moved to WIPO.
He was there for 2+ yrs, accumulated email, then moved back to the Seymour facility in 06/2002.
When attempting to move his user id back to the INPO, it would not allow the move. It said, "Pending Move-This record cannot be modified at this time."
A consultant was brought in and suggested that we create an alter id (jname1) to migrate the emails to that name. This ID was in place for about 2-3 weeks. Once everything was moved over, they disabled the account.
Once we had his mailbox back, we archived numerous pieces of mail.
This brings up to the point of today. He is attempting to look at the archived email. However, it is password protected. The previous passwords he has had do not work. It says that the user id (jname1) does not exist.

My Question is what can I do so that the emails are retrieved?

This is GW 6.0
