What is the best way to backup groupwise 6 post offices??

with a tape drive and backup software. :)

Most backup software packages allow you to execute a command before and after your backup. Create an NCF file to unload the GroupWise NLM's before you run a backup. This will close your PO and all message DB's and User DB's so you can get a solid backup of your entire PO. Then just load the GroupWise Agents again once the backup is compelted. Besure to remember to give enough time between the unload the the start of the backup. 10 to 15 minutes should more than enough time fo rthe agents to unload (it's not always instant).

Open file agents arn't needed, groupwise backup agents arn't needed. These types of agents are only needed if you have to run your backups while the users are using the system. And if you look close at Veritas and Brightstor (aka Arcserve), you will notice that both the open file agent and groupwise agent for both products are the same thing. All four agents are actually St. Bernard Open File agent (unless something has changed in recent versions). Brent Schmidt CNE, Network +
