We just upgraded from 5.5EP to 6.5 SP1 last week. Most everything went smoothly and there were no initial problems evident. However a major issue came to my attention yesterday; We have an intranet web server that generates emails to our users. These emails go through GWIA. We have 2 groups in our SMTP rules restricted and unrestricted - the restricted cannot recieve email from outside (internet mail) however we have the exceptions entered for our web server. The exception list worked fine before the upgrade - we had no issues with this at all. I am at a dead end - I have tried all of the related TID's on Novell's site and have gotten nowhere fast! Has anyone run across a similar issue or have any ideas?? Thanks in advance.

If I remember correct, the SMTP rules for 5.5 and 6.5 are opposite. Where the default in 5.5 was unrestricted, the default in 6.5 was restricted, and you have to create a unrestricted to give users access.

Hi Bill -
I don't think that memory is correct.) If that were true, then the unrestricted rule would not allow people within that group the ability to send & receive the way they are.

Just figured it out.. Ugh! Before in GW5.5ep, we had to add the exception addresses this way to work..
*.domain.com, now you have to drop the *. .

So, instead of *.domain.com, it's now just domain.com. For something so simple, it took alot of headbanging & of course, finally saw that there was a help button when creating a new class of service that had the exact definition. Ugh!
