We believe someone at the office accidentally stopped the MTA module on
this server - it is one Novell server in the office that also has
Groupwise. We tried to load the mta nlm, but it did not appear to work,
so we rebooted the server. Once rebooted, no one in the office could
access Groupwise email. The contact onsite commented that there appeared
to be less items on the Current Screens window in Novell after the
reboot - he believed there had been about 17 but now only had 11. The 11
present are:

Onsite Console
Logger Screen
Time Sync
Debug screen
NDPS Broker
NDPS Mgr
Named
HNDPS console screen
Novell SSL server handshake screen
Netware Enterprise webserver
Netware 6 console monitor

I assume that this server was originally set up incorrectly, as most
servers will automatically load all programs that are needed upon a
reboot.

How can I check what is not loading and how can I load it, to get
Groupwise up and running again?

Thanks for your help.

Generally speaking, you should be able to run GRPWISE.NCF at the command prompt and it will load both the POA and the MTA. Note that the MTA won't affect user logins... The user logins are to the POA.

If you try to load the MTA manually (GWMTA) or POA Manually (GWPOA), you need to specify the location of the configuration file... Otherwise it will fail because the agent doesn't know where the database is.

Then if this server also holds the GWIA and Web Access, you'll need these commands.

GWIA
STRTWEB

and remeber
it's a netware server - you dont need to reboot them

as marv said there should be a grpwise.ncf
this will traditionally contain

something like
gwpoa @postie.poa
gwmta @hippo.mta hippo being the domain name
