Has anyone applied the sp4 patch? If so how did it go? Does everything work. I have to install this patch for our trial of the Blackberry Enterprise Server. Any comments or suggestions are much appreciated.

Make sure you have any custom GWIA settings documented. It will wipe most of them out and put in defaults.

Also, I've seen some errors (apparently with SSL) that are documented in TID 10096121. Says SP4 fixes it, but I still see them once in a while..

We just recently installed SP4. The only snafu that we had was with our WebAccess servers, Applications and Agents. Somehow the commgr.cfg files got out of sync. A simple delete/install of Web services had us back up and running in short order. Other than that the install of SP4 was quite uneventful, just the way I like them.

Thank you all for your comments. I am feeling a bit better about battling with GW patches yet again :) I hope you all have a wonderful day :)

Installed SP4 a couple weeks ago. No problems with it yet. It's much better than SP3. The only snafu that I ran into was some of the settings in the GWIA were reset to defaults and I had to go in and re-modify them.

Good luck,
Ron

Thanks again you all my install went very smoothly last night. I had written down my gwia setting before and was able to set them up the same way they were before....

TY again

I just ran across a switch that I had forgotten about that can help out with GWIA install..

Run the install with the command line switch /COPYONLY and it will update the files but not mess with the configuration.

Wish I had remembered that before.

Yes.. From the INTERNET\GWIA folder... Run SETUP.EXE /COPYONLY

This switch updates all of the NLMs but does not mess with the configuration. Seems dumb to have to require this - why wouldn't you want to keep your original settings.. anyway, hope that helps.

The best advice I can give, based on what I see a lot.. Make sure you patch all pieces. Some people will patch the MTA and POA but not realize you have to do the GWIA & WEBACC separately.

I patched mine offline. Then moved the software distribution directory to the live server and proceeded with the install from there. This was one of the easiest patches for me to date...WOOT!!

Hello all!

I have updated the software, but I cannot now get the GWIA to load (It looks like its still trying to load GWIA 6.5.1)
I have a screen shot of the logger screen, but I'm not sure how to attache it to this posting.

Anyone know how I can sort this out?

Cheers
Emily

There are a few other files that go along with the GWIA.. If you don't unload them first, the GWIA won't load.

Look for modules called SCC??.NLM.. those are the ones that are causing the problem. Unload them, then when you reload GWIA, the new ones should autoload.

Hi,

I applied SP4 to my GW6.5 system 3 months ago. The install went fine, and GW has been rock solid since... especially my 3 GWIA/Webaccess servers, which were predictably troublesome before the update.

I run my GW system on Netware 6.5.2.

Happy trails!

JB
