I have small network, Novell 4.11 & groupwise 5.5. When a user prints an email they do not get header information but this option is ticked in Properties. This problem is only present in External mail, ( all internal mails are printing with header info for the user)

however I found one solitary user who can print internal and external mail with header info and I then checked the Groupwise version.

The 1st user has Program release 5.5.2.1 (19/10/1999)
The 2nd user has program release 5.5.5.2 (14/08/2001)

Teh 1st user can print header info ONLY if they print from the Mailbox without opening the email but how can I upgrade teh clients to the older version? Im trying to search Novell Cool Solutions but failing,,,, miserably

It sounds like the "view" is not selected correctly. Here is the information from Novell's TID # 10013740 that explains the procedure to correct the problem. I hope this addresses your paticular situation.

To enable this go to:
1.GroupWise Mailbox, right click on any message.
2. Select View
3.Right click on main message area.
4.Select Print (Preview) Option
5.Check the Print Header box in the Header & Header fonts area.
6.Make sure the value of (%F) is in the 'Job Name'. This will allow the Header to have the Name of the user and the mail subject in the header.

This initializes the header at the top of the page when printing a GroupWise message.

Thankx Farout, Unfortunately I checked and My Groupwise settings are configured correctly.

Im sure it is something to do with the program release as other users are fine, I just dont know how to upgrade from 5.5.2.1 (19/10/1999) to 5.5.5.2 (14/08/2001)

I can print internal mail 100% ok but external mail is the problem: I can print headers but only if I print from my mailbox without opening the mail. Havemi missed a setting or how fo i updade the program release

gjbruce,
Do you have a GroupWise (S)oftware (D)istribution (D)irectory?
I assume (and god I hate to assume) that since some of your users are using the 5.5.5 client then you do have that version in your SDD. If so, then it is just a matter of running the setup.exe from that SDD directory to install the latest client. I have found that if there is an existing GW client on a machine where I would be doing an install to, that it is best to run the GW cleaning tool before re-installing the client. GW 5.x seemed to install better if there was no preexisting GW client modules/registery entries on the machine. Let me know if I have missed the mark on answering your question.

problem solved ! I have very small network and have just 3 IT folk, 1 is nearly retired, other is as400 specialist and Im pretty new here so im doing everything. Basically the software i have been using to upgrade was taken from an Apps volume but when I installed from the SYs volume I have the correct version. Thanks a lot 10/10 , much appreciated

( I thought maybe i could close question like experts echange?)
