Greetings,
I'm at a loss here. I have a Windows 2000 box, with Groupise 5.5 and Office XP. When I try to bring up the adress book, all I get is a grayed-out address book. I can't even set-up the GW Address Book, GW message store, or the NPAB.
We have un-installed and cleaned the Groupwise client, and re-installed several times to no avail.
I have checked multiple sources to try and get information on a fix for this issue. It is a known issue to Novell (without a fix), going back to 2001! And, it appears that even today, two years later this issue has not been resolved. I found Doc # 10063426, and another document in the coolsolutions under Office XP.
Could anyone point me in the right direction on this?

Thanks
Jim

Strange, I use OfficeXP on my notebook and have never run into any issue with my GroupWise. I don't use GroupWise 5.5, I have ver 6. I do have client that use 5.5 and 5.5 EP with OfficeXP, and have no problems. I searched around and found that there are a few shops having this problem. Most complain about Novell not comming up with a fix, thats because 5.5 is no longer supported. Why develop a patch for something M$ broke by changing a spec (again) when you no longer support the product in the first place?

Take a look at this thread I found in Google, it may help;

The only thing I can think of that makes my GroupWise 6 client work right is that I did not install OutlookXP. The same goes for my clients, I do not distribute Outlook(whatever version) with the Office suite. No point in having two mail programs on a users workstation. If a need for Outlook does come up in a GroupWise shop, I point the client to OutlookExpress, or use a gateway to link GroupWise and Exchange systems.

So when you do an OfficeXP install, choose to do a custom install and deselect the OutlookXP client. If it works, make and MST file for the install to make your life easier, or use the individual MSI files for each of the OfficeXP products. Brent Schmidt CNE,Network + [atom]
