having just moved up to sp5 of groupwise, some workers are complaining that groupwise hangs on startup for them.. while this might normally be a quick reinstall job, all the workers are on one of the two terminal servers that we run, so everyone has the same install! theres only 3 out of about 50 or so that have the problem, so it must be something to do with their settings, but what?

At what point does GroupWise hang?
Do you even get a Login Box?
Does Notify work OK?
Do you get any error messages?
Does the entire Workstation lock up, or just GroupWise?
What OS are we talking about?

Please advise.

Good Luck!

woops, sorry :)
it hangs on the splash screen, so no login box at all... notify works ok, in that it pops up its message saying theres a new email, but clicking read again makes groupwise hang..

no error messages of any sort, it just stops working, and its groupwise only

the client machines are nt4 terminal server sessions (just to make it more complicated!)

having said all that, we had our support contractors look into it earlier this week, and they couldnt find a problem, yet so far after that noones complained of it not working, so god knows what was/is going on. only thing ive done recently is update from the 4.70 client to the newer 4.83 with patch2 applied, but i dont see how that would affect random users

just to further this, it appears that groupwise works fine (for the users that have problems) until notify is run, at which point everything falls over, and even closing both groupwise and notify does not put things back to normal- groupwise will not load afterwards, so something is obviously staying active and screwing something else over, but as yet, noone knows what.. :(
