Hi and tia for any help

I have a corrupted database. When i go into mailbox/library maintenance and select content and fix problems for a specific user, under analyze/fix problems. I get a message saying "mailbox/library maintenance task messages have been sent for the selected objects". It never has any results in anything. Is there a step i am missing? I have gone through all the help files all the help files end there so i dont knwo what to do next.

again thanks for any help brett

Basically, the Maintenance request was sent to the POA and the POA handles the request.

In the Details for the DOMAIN object, are you setup as the Adminstrator? If not, change it so that you are.

When you configure your Mailbox/Library maintenance job, down on the lower left hand corner, select the RESULTS tab and make sure that ADMINSTRATOR is checked.

When the Maintenance task is complete, it will send the results to whoever is listed as the Adminstrator.

Good Luck.

The administrator has been selected all along. I never get a message back. I never hear any activityfrom the machines.

How long should i give it to go through the process?

thank You Brett

How long the maintenance process takes depends directly on how large the Mailbox is, how busy the Server may be and how fast the Hard Drives are. A USERxxx.DB file that is 10Mb could take up to 30 - 45 minutes to complete. But I have also seen that same size database get done in less than 2 minutes on different (...and more powerful) Servers.

With GroupWise v5.2, you are running an ADA, correct? Are you receiving any messages across the ADA regarding the Maintenance?

If you are using the stand-alone GWCHECK32.exe to run the maintenance, it sounds like the objects (databases, libraries, etc) are not being found by GWCHECK32.exe. If you do not have the correct database or library name in the GWCHECK32.exe fields and/or if you are not the correct domain or post office dtabase directoryand display the exact message you are getting as it passes the job off to the post office to be run, but will not actually find any matching database or library to run the job against. It should display an error though, in the GWCHECK.exe window and in the output log (deafult is GWCHECK32.log in the same directory that GWCHECK32.exe is in)

If you are using NetWare Administrator to run the maintenance, and have this set up as a scheduled job, be aware that if changes are made to the Post Office object in NW Admin, the scheduled nightly and other custom jobs should be recreated for the PO after the changes are made. Novell advises that the previous jobs often fail to run and keep thier association with the PO after changes are applied. We have seen this occur frequently.

Good luck!
