I have four Exchange 5.5, SP4 servers with several hotfixes on an NT 4.0 SP6a OS with GroupShield 5.0 with SP1 installed.

Every time I start GroupShield, it's a matter of days before it crashes the Exchange Information Store service on all four of my Exchange servers. The error is: Store.exe Application Error. The instruction at "0x611034c9" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".

When I leave GroupShield disabled, the Exchange servers are fine. Has anyone ran into this problem? When I call McAfee support, they think it's NetShield. It can't be because I leave NetShield running and the servers are fine. McAfee support doesn't have any idea how to fix this. They've had me apply service packs, hotfixes, check settings, and nothing works.

GroupShield has caused me so many headaches! Not only has it been crashing the Exchange servers, but it is also causing one of the Exchange servers to not shut down properly, even after a half an hour.....but that's another thread.

5.0SP2 is out, also I would ask what scanning method you are using?

FatesWebb

if you do what I suggested it is not my fault...

I assume that you have NetShield configured to not scan the active parts of Exchange?

I'm using direct message store scanning. I wasn't aware that GroupShield 5.0 SP2 is out. I'll call Network Associates and ask them if this will fix the problem.

I'm not scanning any of exchsrvr directories and subdirectories on any of the servers. NAI double checked all of the NetShield settings and said that is is configured correctly.
