Currently running Groupshield 4.5 & Exch 5.5 SP4 on Win40 server. Looking to upgrade to Groupshield to 5.0 and Exch2k.
Is the recommended path to upgrade Groupshield to 5.0 then later upgrade Exchange? What are the gotcha's in upgrading Groupshield?

The recommended path would be this:

1. Uninstall GSE 4.5
2. Upgrade to Exchange 2000
3. Install GSE 5.2 (not 5.0)

The chances of you having problems if you do it your way would be greater since:

1. GSE 5.0 for Exchange 5.5 is NOT compatible with the GSE 5.0 for Exchange 2000.
2. You will still need to uninstall GSE 5.0 to upgrade to Exchange 2000.

Isn't there a Groupshield 5.0 for Exch. 5.5 product? My plan was going to be to upgrade Groupshield 4.5 to 5.0 for Exch. 5.5 then when considered steady upgrade the OS from NT4.0 to Win2k then when steady upgrade Exch 5.5 to Exch2K then upgrade Groupsheild to 5.0 for Exch2K. Sorry for leaving out the Win2k upgrade in prior post. What path would you recommend?

Ah! if that's the case, it should like this:

OS:NT4

1. Uninstall GSE 4.5
2. Install GSE 5.0 of Exch 4.5

When upgrading to Win2K and Exch2K:

1. Uninstall GSE 5.0
2. Upgrade OS
3. Install Exchange 2000 (SP3)
4. Install GSE 5.2

Skip 5.0. GSE 5.2 is more stable.

I'd like to have a few months go by while running Win2k before upgrading to Exch2k so can I have GSE 5.0 for Exch5.5 running on Win2k then later upgrade to Exch2K?

You can basically take all of the steps and put in the pauses/testing periods you need. AVChap

I think you're in the wrong place :) Ask your McAfee sales person about licensing. AVChap
