Groups not working----help!!!

I have created email addresses for several departments i.e. sales@katocalif.com and then created a group call sales, gave it the internet address of sales@katocalif.com and added members from the company address book and then tested it by emailing sales at sales@katocalif.com.
No one in the group receives the mail.

What am I doing wrong?

I believe it is because you cannot send mail to a group. As far as the Domino server is concerned, the "sales@katocalif.com" address is not attached to a user or to a mailbox, therefor the incoming mail is ignored (or whatever the server does to a mail it cannot deposit correctly).
What you should do is create a sales mail box (and assign to it the email you want), and either tell all sales people to check it, or have it forward all mail to the sales people (you can use the group for that).

You can send mail to a group (using a mail-in-database is a possibility, but you can also mail directly to a group and the individual recipients get the mail). We for example use this procedure for mails that an external customer sends us and where we have a group of people who should receive the message). A possible reason why this is not working for you might be that - if you are using Notes 6 already - the server checks who has access to that group. If you have limited the access so only certain users may see the group in the names.nsf then only these users may send mail to it.

Our group for example is called #sys, has the email-address #sys@ourcompanyname.com and contains individual members from our names.nsf
