GH1 is employee
GH2 is activity and contains breakdowns of time spent on each activity
D is Time sheet entry
GF2 is blank
GF1 contains summaries on time spent

I need to get the GH1 summaries physically above the GH2 summaries but when I do so the figures recalculate incorrectly - can't get my head around it....

It sounds like you have formulas, not summaries, in your GH, and if they are using variables, you will most likely get a different result.

If you are using formulas, please post them to the forum along with an explanation of what you are trying to accomplish.

The formulaes are simply type conversions on a running total field (converts minutes to hh:mm) - if I put this field in the header it does not evaluate all records. The running total field also change if I move them from the footer to the header....thanks for your help
