grouping question

Hi,

I've got a subreport which is grouped by APVEN.VendorName.
I can go into Group Expert and pick APVEN.VendorName from the list of database fields.
In the subreport I've then created a formula VendorName (shared stringvar VendorName :={APVEN.VENDNAME}

In the actual report I then created the same formula VendorName (shared stringvar VendorName and was hoping I could use this field for grouping as well.
However if I go to Group Export the field VendorName does not show up under the report field section. I have not added table APVEN though.
Do I need to add the table to the report as well to be able to group by it even though it's a shared variable?

I haven't currently got access to the database so can't test it unfortunately.

You cannot group on a shared variable. You might want to consider making the subreport your main report.
