Grouping on v8.5

I have recently moved up to Version 8.5 and have started getting problems with grouping. The report groups on a character field as the inner of two groups. This is resulting in duplication of the inner groups. The data in each instance of group 2 is different and does indeed belong in the group to which it is assigned. I have checked the grouping data and there are no spelling differences, no extra spaces etc.

Has anyone had the same problem, and does anyone have any suggestions?

I would try verify database, just because it sometimes fixes qwerky little problems..

If you still have the problem I would change group2 to another field (temporarily), save the report, then set it back to the original field..

If that didn't work... I would delete the group completely and start over..

If that didn't work.. Not sure where I would go.. depends on the group and what its purpose was..

Actually, I would make sure you do not have smart linking turned on. I have seen report written in version 7 without smart linking which are opened in version 8/8.5 with smart liking, then saved, and all kinds of problems can be created with this.

Thanks for the suggestions. Believe it or not, dumping the field value in a formula and then grouping on the formula works. Kinda suggests it's a database issue, huh?
