Grouping on Dates

I have a report that is grouping on the month and year. My problem is that the report is sorting by the character value i.e. January, October, November, December, February.
How can I correct this?
 
Sort by date Sort by votes
Within your grouping options, set to group "in specified order" (ascending is typically the default) and set the order you want it to appear.

When you select grouping, select options and select grouped for each month, it does so numerically, it sounds like you were being inventive...
