Grouping in a summary report

I am doing a summary report. The acct#, acct name, etc, and total are in the acct# footer.
I need to group by the first number of the acct#. Is there some way to do this?

If you go into the report, go to it's properties.
Choose Sorting and Grouping.

Click on the Footer you want to sort on, and at the bottom you will see Group on. Choose prefix characters.

Do you really only want to sort on the first character?
Make group interval 1.
