Hello,

I am new to Crystal Reports. I am in the process of trying to group a field. I have used the summary field option. I chose to count the field as long as it contain the same associate's name. It is grouped in the footer of a report. Then made it a subreport of another report. I need to be able to use the summary field to calculate the average of total tickets by associate. However, when I try to calculate the field it does not allow me to do so. Any suggestions. I have been told that you are not allowed to calculate based off of summary fields it does not allow you to add that field to equations. Any help will be appreciated.

This is a very common problem, particularly aggrivating when new to Crystal. If I understand correctly, you have some summary functions at the group level, and you want a grand total for them at the end of your report, but Crystal doesn't allow summary functions on group level summary totals...

Try a search on this forum for the phrases "average of summary" or "median of group". There are several posts that will provide sample formulas to resolve your issue. You can also check the FAQ's for . There are some very helpful and skillful programmers who have posted excellent suggestions I hope you might find as helpful as I have.

You can probably take one of two approaches to solve your problem, I've found that arrays work nicely once you figure them out... Good luck
