Grouping creates the group but doesn't sort

I'm using CR XI.

My report is grouped by Shift, Machine, Start Date/Time, and Job Code. I got the report almost perfect if I leave out Start Date/Time but the only issue is that it's sorted by Job Code when I want it sorted by Start Date/Time. Since all of the fields are in the Job Code GF, I added a Start Date/Time group above it to sort by Start Date/Time. Problem is now that even though I suppress the Start Date/Time group, on the Job Code GF, I get a line for every time the time changes. Plus it's still sorting by Job Code.

Does anyone know why this is happening or a way around it? If there is some way of sorting by Start Date/Time without grouping by it and keeping the Job Code group, that would be ideal.

If you remove the group on start date/time, you can then place the datetime in the detail section and insert a minimum on it at the group level. You need to do this just to activate the group sort. Then go to report->group sort and select minimum of the datetime as your sort field. This will organize the jobs by datetime. If dates vary within the job, you should also add a record sort by date.

Thank you lbass. I had never used that part of Crystal before and didn't know it was there but it worked perfectly.
